Life without love is like a tree without blossoms or fruit.”
~ Khalil Gibran ~
Most people spend their whole life waiting to start living.
We have this present moment sparkling like a star, yet melting like a snow flake. We often feel that we have endless time, so we often wait to pursue the things we desire most. We wait for the perfect moment, the right time to go after our goals, the perfect partner, the dream job, or to speak our truth. Most of us are good at finding excuses to wait, but the main reason you are waiting is because you are living in fear.
- We wait to call or reach out to dear friends we miss because we assume we’ll have plenty of time or we assume that they their too busy to speak to us.
- We wait to tell people how our we truly feel because we are scared to be deeply seen and we hope we will feel safer the longer we wait to express.
- We wait to forgive the people who’ve hurt us because we allow our ego to get in the way and we stubbornly feel that they should reach out first.
- We wait to apologize for the things we’ve done wrong because we feel full of fear and we are ashamed to admit that we have faults.
If we’re not careful, we can spend our whole lives making excuses, holding off until a better time; only to eventually realize that time never came. Our days here are limited, and we don’t know how long each of us are gifted with on this journey. But what we do know is that at the end of our lives, all we will want to say is, “I love you.”, “I’m sorry.” or “I forgive you.” But why wait till then when you have this perfect moment, here and now! This moment is all that we truly have! So appreciate the people that are in your life; anyone who has made an impact on your heart, made you smile, or has helped you grown. Find the courage to express your thoughts and feelings, instead of over analyzing and thinking in a mindset full of fear. It is better to say too much than to say too little. You will never know the full impact that you have or will make on another by being kind, open, and real; but you will inspire and open their hearts to be real and authentic, just as you were. Have the bravery to open your heart to this present moment and to live in love. This is your life, your one and only chance to live it to the fullest. Decide what truly matters and appreciate it while you have the opportunity to. Nothing lasts for ever; the good or the bad. There is beauty within the impermanence. When moments are hard and challenging, know that they are only temporary. When moments are beautiful and wonderful, know that they are also temporary, so you need to cherish and embrace them even more. This present moment is the only moment that we truly have to be kind, loving, truthful, forgiving, and compassionate. You may feel a rush of fear wash over you as you think about embracing this moment to its fullest. But, when you find the courage to take the leap outside of your comfort zone, liberation and love will flourish within you.
