Namaste

My name is Skyler Dearen. Thank you for visiting my site and for following my journey. I am grateful for your love and support. I hope to inspire you by sharing my love of yoga and teaching, my passions, and being a vessel of love and compassion. Together we can inspire each other to become more aware, to live with open hearts, and to spread unconditional kindness.

Here is a little about myself and my life:

I was raised by a spiritual holistic mother who awakened me to the beauty and magic of life. At a young age she introduced me to spirituality, meditation and yoga. Little did we know that this was my calling. My Dharma. It’s been a blessing to have had a strong spiritual foundation to fall back on as I’ve maneuvered my way through life. At a young age I felt called to teach and heal. I went through a lot at a very young age, but I have been able to use my past experiences as opportunities for growth.

My childhood was anything but “normal” or “typical.” I am a survivor of many forms of abuse. This abuse had a domino effect on me and my family’s life. My father was very abusive and it took many years for my mother, sister, and I to escape his rage. We went into hiding and lived in fear of him for many years. Living in fear was something I knew well.

It is true that the cracks are where light shines through. These cracks in our lives might have brought us to our knees but it forced us to fight for our lives and to break free from the pain. This is where our lives completely cracked open and the light came through. This Light, call it Spirit, God, The Universe, Love, moved through us and guided my family to the path of healing.

Yoga was able to completely heal me from the inside out.

I remember the euphoric feeling I felt after my first yoga class when I opened my eyes in savasana (resting pose); I felt at peace with myself and the world around me, and deeply connected to the Universe. I eventually began to realize that everything is connected and that life was not happening to me, it is happening for me, for my greatest good. From that moment on I’ve incorporated yoga into my weekly routine. Yoga was able to completely heal me from the inside out. It provided a sacred place for me to quiet my mind and to connect with my heart, mind, and body. Every time I made it to my yoga mat, I felt connected to a higher power, a place of unconditional love and joy. That’s when my love and passion for yoga really started to grow. The more I made it to my yoga mat, the happier and more peaceful I felt. This spiritual journey has ultimately helped me to forgive my father and accept my past, and its helped me realize that I would not be who I am today unless I went through everything I had, not just the good and beautiful but the dark, scary and painful times as well.

In 2013, my family opened up Radiant Hot Yoga in Newport Beach, California. Yoga healed us in such a profound way that we felt inspired to open Radiant Hot Yoga to share the love and benefits of yoga, as well as to create a safe and loving environment where people can come to heal, grow, and connect.

My mother says, “If yoga can save our lives, it can save yours.”

In 2014, I completed a 200 hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training program at Radiant Hot Yoga in Newport Beach, CA. I remember an amazing moment while I was teaching my first class. I had an epiphany as a powerful feeling rushed through my body and it was in that moment that I realized that this is what I am going to do for the rest of my life. After teaching my first yoga class, I fell to my knees in gratitude as tears filled my eyes. I had never felt so alive, content, happy, and present all in one moment. As my love for yoga and teaching grew deeper, my passion turned into purpose. I had a growing desire to spread yoga to everyone and anyone. I was inspired to help heal others by spreading the love, peace and the healing effects that come from yoga.

I was the youngest certified hot yoga instructor in the United States

After completing Radiant Hot Yoga’s Teacher Training, I realized that I was the youngest certified hot yoga instructor in the United States. I have been featured in many local and national publications. It is such an honor to be recognized for doing something that I love and breathe; but what I feel is truly transformational is that I have the ability to inspire others with my story and my unconditional love.

I am blessed to be able to teach people of all ages, 2 to 80 years old. It doesn’t matter what age you are, my goal is to connect with your heart and soul, and remind you that life is a beautiful gift to be cherished. It’s amazing how everything changes when you’re inside of a safe environment to practice yoga. Each of my students faces their own set of challenges and through the yoga practice they feel safe to be vulnerable, open to growth and loved. The only way we can heal and grow, is if we allow the postures and the practice to open up our heart and bring up buried emotions. It’s truly transformational to watch people heal and grow during my classes, inside a safe environment, in which they express themselves through their mind, body, and soul. I have had the opportunity to teach around two-thousand hours of yoga over the past four and a half years of teaching.

I currently teach on average ten heated classes, and a couple yin yoga classes, a week at Radiant Hot Yoga, as well as private yoga sessions and workshops.

I enjoy traveling around the world co-hosting yoga retreats with my mother and sister. I also visit schools often to teach yoga, meditation, and to speak to the students about my journey of finding passion, purpose, and self-love.

In 2016, my family and I opened up Radiant Hot Yoga Irvine. Radiant Hot Yoga was our dream that has been manifested into reality. I continue to wake up each day in gratitude, for I found my purpose and passion, and I am living it each day.

I truly cherish the connections I have made with my students. My students are part my family, they are my inspirations, my best friends.

I feel blessed to be on the path that I am on, the path of healing and awakening. It’s an incredible honor to be able to lead, inspire, heal, and help others on their journey. My entire life is devoted to teaching yoga; I live and breathe it. Thank you for reading my story!

This is just a small part of my life, if you would ever like to hear more, I am happy to share. I hope that my story is able to inspire you to go after your dreams, and to rise above and beyond any challenges that have come your way. If you believe in yourself and all that you are, anything is possible!

Life is nothing but a dream, and if we are artists, then we can create our life with Love, and our dream becomes a masterpiece of art. “ ~ DMR
